Renewing Our Minds: God’s Word has the power to transform us as we dwell on it daily.

Monday Verse

Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. Joshua 1:8 (NLT)

Monday Questions

How can I renew my mind daily by focusing on God’s Word? In what ways can I regularly engage with Scripture to shape my thoughts and guide my actions throughout each day?

Monday Insight Post
by Kim Feld

I love how Jesus used ordinary moments to teach profound lessons. As a master teacher, He often drew from everyday situations to convey spiritual truths. In this instance, He observed people giving to the offering and seized the opportunity to discuss the heart of giving with His disciples.

You might think that having more would make it easier to give, but that’s not always the case. Often, the more we possess, the tighter we hold on. In this story, a poor woman gives all she has, creating a striking contrast with the wealthy who contribute only a small portion of their surplus. There’s a powerful connection between generosity and trust.

The Bible highlights the challenges that wealthy individuals face in coming to a relationship with Christ. While I know many rich people who are devoted followers of Christ and who give generously, we must acknowledge that wealth can create barriers due to a perceived lack of need. When we have everything we want, recognizing our needs can be difficult. However, this woman’s act of giving, despite her limited means, is a testament to complete trust; she relied entirely on God to meet her needs. Her example is not just inspiring; it’s a powerful reminder of the trust we can have in God’s provision.

Trust is not built quickly. It is often built over time and tested through a variety of circumstances. I have to believe that the trust the widow displayed was born out of years of experiencing God’s faithful provision for her.

So, the question I’m asking myself this week is how completely I trust God to meet my needs. Am I holding on to certain things, fearing He might “shortchange” me? Or do I have the faith to keep an open hand in every area of my life, including my finances? I encourage you to join me in this reflection and consider how you can trust God more fully.
