Monday Insight Post
by Kim Feld
This story highlights the faith and compassion of the paralyzed man’s four friends—demonstrating the true power of community. The man could not reach Jesus on his own, but his friends cared enough to help him do what he could not. Their compassion and unity made the miracle possible.
Do you have people who help carry your burdens? Are you that person for someone else? God can use us powerfully in each other’s lives. It’s a privilege to be part of the story God is writing!
Let’s take a look at today’s reflection verse from our Bible reading plan:
“Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.” 1 John 3:18 (NLT)
Jesus said that our love shows the world we are His disciples (see John 13:35). He didn’t just mean loving those closest to us, but making love a way of life. How does that look when I’m stressed and waiting in line, or when someone cuts me off on the road? I get to choose how I react.
When we choose to love and support one another, we demonstrate the power of community that draws us closer to Jesus. The man in today’s story was carried by friends who cared deeply for him. Each day, we too can help direct others toward Jesus through the way we love. Let’s be intentional community builders.
