Weekly Reading: Luke 24:13-35

Monday Reflection

Jesus Reveals Himself in Unexpected Ways: The disciples on the road to Emmaus did not recognize Jesus at first, showing us that God often reveals Himself in ways we don’t expect. Our hearts can be opened to His presence when we focus on Scripture and invite Him into our conversations and lives.

Monday Verse

But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. James 1:22 (NLT)

Monday Questions

How can I become more aware of Jesus’ presence in my everyday interactions and experiences? In what ways can I intentionally invite Him into my conversations and focus on Scripture to recognize His presence in the unexpected moments of my daily life?

Monday Insight Post
by Kim Feld

I love the story of the Road to Emmaus. We don’t know why Jesus wasn’t recognized—whether it was due to divine intervention or a change in His appearance. As the followers recalled recent events, Jesus clarified the scriptures, linking the Old Testament to what had happened. I can only imagine the impact!

My favorite part is when they invited Jesus to stay, and He became the host, blessing and breaking the bread. Their eyes were opened—either by divine intervention or familiarity with Him in that role. They realized they had been with Jesus as He vanished.

Jesus carefully explained what confused them. Their faith was strengthened by the interaction. They were changed.

This story fills me with hope. The way the Old and New Testaments connect, the fulfillment of prophecies in Jesus, and evidence of God’s intentional plan all highlight hope at the center of faith. The Bible reveals an ongoing rescue mission that assures us of this hope.

Though there is turmoil in our world, we have hope because God’s plan will succeed. He alone is our assurance and the source of our hope.

18 So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. 19 This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary. 20 Jesus has already gone in there for us. He has become our eternal High Priest in the order of Melchizedek. Hebrews 6:18-20 (NLT)
