November 24: Weekly Reading- Healing of the Ten Lepers; The Thankful & Insight Post by Kim Feld
Weekly Reading: Luke 17:11-19
Monday Reflection
Gratitude Reflects Faith: Out of the ten lepers healed by Jesus, only one returned to thank Him, and that man was a Samaritan. Jesus highlights the importance of gratitude, teaching that it not only expresses thankfulness but also demonstrates faith in God’s work in our lives.
Monday Verse
And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness. Colossians 2:6-7 (NLT)
Monday Questions
In what areas of my life can I show more gratitude, especially in times of healing or provision? How can I cultivate a heart that expresses thankfulness, reflecting my faith in God’s work in my life?
Monday Insight Post
by Kim Feld
I am moving slowly this morning as I begin the recuperation process of this past week’s MobilePack with Feed My Starving Children. New Hope celebrated the milestone of packing 6,000,000 meals since we started in 2010. Those meals feed 16,438 children for an entire year. Reflecting on that, I am thankful to be part of a church that responds to the Biblical mandate to provide help and hope. I am also incredibly grateful to my staff and volunteer team, who worked tirelessly this weekend to pull off our MobilePack.
Reflecting on the story of the ten lepers from this week’s reading, only one leper returned to say thanks. He should be a model for us, not only during this post MobilePack and week of Thanksgiving, but every day. Beginning our days by truly reflecting on what we have to be grateful for can help us shift our mindset and handle the hard things that often come our way. The apostle Paul encouraged us with these words:
Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NLT)
