Prayer is not just something we say. It is how we stay connected to God. It is an ongoing conversation where we bring our joy, stress, questions, and gratitude. It is how we learn to depend on Him instead of ourselves.

Acts 2:42 says the early church devoted themselves to teaching, fellowship, meals, and prayer. Prayer was foundational. It shaped their unity and fueled God’s work among them.

Ephesians 6:18 calls us to pray at all times. Daniel 6:10 shows us what that looks like. Even when it was risky, Daniel prayed as he always had. His circumstances changed. His commitment did not.

If I am honest, I tend to drift into reactive prayer. When things feel heavy or urgent, I pray more. There have been many mornings when I have woken up overwhelmed by everything on my plate and realized I was trying to carry it on my own. In those moments, when I slow down and honestly tell God I cannot do this without Him, something shifts. The situation does not instantly change, but my perspective does. I walk into the day lighter. Prayer does not remove the pressure, but it reminds me I am not carrying it alone.

Here is the challenge this week. Set aside five intentional minutes each day to pray. No multitasking. Just you and God. Then pray for one specific person by name each day and let them know you did.

Let’s make prayer our first response, not our last resort.
