February 9: Weekly Focus

February – Prayer

Prayer is more than words we say, it is an ongoing conversation with God. Through prayer we bring our joys, needs, and burdens before Him and listen for His guidance. Prayer is how we draw close to God in every circumstance, learning to depend on Him and align our hearts with His will. It is both a privilege and a practice that deepens our relationship with Him.

Week of February 9- Week 7

Reading:

5If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. James 1:5 (NLT)

God is delighted when His children ask for wisdom. He does not shame us for asking, nor does He withhold His guidance. When we come to Him with humility, He promises to provide the wisdom we need to navigate life’s decisions, challenges, and opportunities.

Reflection Questions:

  1. In what areas of your life do you most need God’s wisdom right now?
  2. How does God’s generosity in giving wisdom encourage your faith?
  3. What keeps you from asking God for guidance more often?
  4. How can you discern the difference between worldly advice and God’s wisdom?
  5. What step can you take this week to seek God’s wisdom more intentionally?

Why this matters for life today:

God’s wisdom is crucial for daily living because it provides clarity, purpose, and peace. It guides our decisions from an eternal perspective rather than a worldly one, and helps us build character like humility, love, and patience. Ultimately, God’s wisdom helps us live an abundant and meaningful life that reflects Jesus.

Take it Deeper:

  • Developing integrity is crucial for God’s guidance and protection, enabling you to walk His intended path.

6For the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding. 7He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest. He is a shield to those who walk with integrity. Proverbs 2:6–7 (NLT)

  • Praying and asking for God’s help enables us to live in a way that pleases and honors Him.

9So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. 10Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better. Colossians 1:9–10 (NLT)
