March 20: Insight Post by Rachel Cleveland

Friday Insight Post

Sometimes I think we believe broken things aren’t beautiful or can’t be useful. A broken lamp, cup, or picture frame. I have always been fascinated with artists who take seemingly “broken” materials and turn them into something magnificent, beautiful, and even useful. This is exactly what Jesus does for us as He redeems our stories. He takes our broken and ugly pieces and makes them whole, makes them beautiful, and gives them purpose. And THAT is worth celebrating!

Celebrating this kind of restoration could look different for you than it does for me, and honestly, it probably should, since we have had different experiences and our Jesus stories aren’t exactly the same. What a blessing to not only have stories uniquely ours but also to have unique celebrations! Nothing I love more than a fun party with my favorite people! Party may be a stretch, but a gathering of my favorite people to celebrate is definitely something I am always excited about. Whether we are together to celebrate surviving the week, to acknowledge life accomplishments, or entering into new seasons, taking time with your people is life-giving, restorative, no matter the reason you gather.

But do you gather for and celebrate what Jesus has done for you? Do you stop and acknowledge His impact on your life, your year, your day? What would celebrating the beautiful restoration Jesus provides us look like in your daily life? Maybe it is through prayer, maybe it is through worship and singing of His goodness, maybe it is throwing an actual party to tell your story. Whatever it looks like for you, find the time to do it. Celebration is joyful and fun, but it can also be powerful and rewarding, not just for you, but for all of those you invite to the party!
