January 19: Weekly Focus

January – Meditation

Meditation is the practice of slowing down and focusing on God’s Word and presence. It is not about emptying the mind, but about filling it with truth, listening for God’s voice, and allowing His Word to take root deep within us. This practice helps us move from simply reading Scripture to letting it shape our hearts, minds, and actions.

Week of January 19- Week 3

Reading:

31 But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31 (NLT)

God promises that when we place our trust in Him, He renews our strength. Instead of relying on our limited energy, we draw on His endless power. This verse invites us to live with hope, endurance, and confidence, knowing that God provides the strength we need for every step of the journey.

Reflection Questions:

  1. What does it mean for you personally to “trust in the Lord”?
  2. Where in your life do you feel weary and in need of renewed strength?
  3. How does the imagery of soaring like an eagle encourage your faith?
  4. In what ways can you practice waiting on God this week?
  5. How can you remind yourself daily that true strength comes from Him?

Why this matters for life today:

We all get tired, but God offers strength that lasts. Meditating on His promises renews our hope and reminds us that He can carry us when we feel worn out.

Take it Deeper:

  • Even as our bodies grow weak, God renews our spirits each day with hope.

16That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. 17For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! 18So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever. 2 Corinthians 4:16–18 (NLT)

  • Waiting on the Lord strengthens our hearts and teaches us courage.

13Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living. 14Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord. Psalm 27:13–14 (NLT)
