January 26: Weekly Focus
January – Meditation
Meditation is the practice of slowing down and focusing on God’s Word and presence. It is not about emptying the mind, but about filling it with truth, listening for God’s voice, and allowing His Word to take root deep within us. This practice helps us move from simply reading Scripture to letting it shape our hearts, minds, and actions.
Week of January 26- Week 4
Reading:
¹⁴ May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer. Psalm 19:14 (NLT)
This verse shows us that God cares not just about our actions but also our inner thoughts. Meditation aligns our hearts with His truth so that what flows out in our words and lives brings Him joy and honor.
Reflection Questions:
- What does it mean for the meditation of your heart to please God?
- How might meditation shape not only your thoughts but also your words?
- What role does God as “rock and redeemer” play in this verse for you?
- How can you carry meditation beyond quiet moments into your daily conversations?
- What simple prayer could guide your meditation this week?
Why this matters for life today:
What we focus on shapes who we become. God calls us to think about what is good and true so our lives reflect His peace and goodness in a world that desperately needs it.
Take it Deeper:
- Focusing your thoughts on what is good and true brings peace and clarity.
8And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Philippians 4:8 (NLT)
- Keep God’s Word close by teaching and remembering it in daily life.
6And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. 7Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Deuteronomy 6:6–7 (NLT)
