February 2: Weekly Focus
February – Prayer
Prayer is more than words we say, it is an ongoing conversation with God. Through prayer we bring our joys, needs, and burdens before Him and listen for His guidance. Prayer is how we draw close to God in every circumstance, learning to depend on Him and align our hearts with His will. It is both a privilege and a practice that deepens our relationship with Him.
Week of February 2- Week 5
Reading:
⁹Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. ¹⁰May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. ¹¹Give us today the food we need, ¹²and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us. ¹³And don’t let us yield to temptation but rescue us from the evil one. Matthew 6:9–13 (NLT)
The Lord’s Prayer is more than words to recite. It is a model that teaches us to approach God with honesty, trust, and dependence. Prayer connects us to the One who provides and forgives.
Reflection Questions:
- What stands out to you in the way Jesus taught His followers to pray?
- How does beginning with praise shape the way you see your needs?
- Which part of this prayer do you need to make your focus this week?
- How does this model guide you toward trust and dependence on God?
- What can you add to your daily prayers to make them more like this example?
Why this matters for life today:
Worry is part of life, but prayer helps us hand those burdens to God. He provides everything we need: purpose, daily provision, forgiveness, protection, and guidance.
Take it Deeper:
- The Lord’s Prayer gives us a blueprint for prayer–praise, petition, confession, and intercession (praying for others). It moves us from self-centeredness to God-centered living.
30He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less. John 3:30 (NLT)
- Prayer molds our hearts, aligning them with God’s desires.
33Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. Matthew 6:33 (NLT)
