Be the Bridge

All of us as part of God’s family are image bearers of God Himself.  So, why is it so hard to live like the FAMILY He intended us to be?

The reconciliation journey is not an easy process. It can be daunting and scary to launch into the unknown abyss of racial discussions. It takes brave people to have courageous conversations. How do we, the body of Christ, become a bridge for unity? How do we become a light to a dark world that makes divisions on race? Before we begin our nine-week journey as a church, we’re going to take a closer look over the next two weeks to see what it looks like for us to become a witness and a voice for racial unity.

Week 1 Message- From the Outside In

Date- September 16th & 17th, 2017

Key Verse(s)- Matthew 7:12, Ephesians 4:31-32

Speaker- Rusty Coram

The subject of racial unity is vast and can feel like walking through a minefield of frustration, emotion and varying degrees of understanding. We feel this subject is important enough to be the focus of a church-wide study. But before we break into groups, let’s walk through what this looks like together.

Week 2 Message- From the Inside Out

Date- September 23rd & 24th, 2017

Key Verse(s)- 2 Corinthians 5:14-21

Speaker- Kim Feld

If we’re not careful, we can get caught up in generalizations and stereotypes. This week we’ll hear the stories of some of our New Hope brothers and sisters. By getting a little more personal, we’ll be able to cut through the generalizations and see the hurt and the hope within our own family…and quite possibly learn something new about ourselves in the process.
