Game On: The Quest For The Ultimate Gold Medal
It takes many different types of training to perform at our best.
We’re just weeks away from the opening ceremony of the 2016 Summer Olympics. As that time draws near, these athletes are relying on many things to help them compete successfully. Their training began years earlier as they worked to assemble the building blocks necessary to reach the status of elite athlete. As followers of Jesus, we are training for a very unique race…one that ends with the ultimate reward. Over the next eight weeks, we’ll look at how our conditioning really isn’t all that different.

There are endless stories of heroes whose careers came to a crashing halt by either breaking the rules or artificially enhancing their performance. While they may have experienced short-term gain, the truth is cheaters never win.

It can be hard to stay focused when distractions come knocking at our door. Often times, we’re our own worst enemy as fear and pride try to steal our focus and derail our progress.
